3 Inventions That Were Used For Something Else

 1.  The Slinky

If you don't already know what a slinky is, it is a toy spring.  They were originally made by Richard James, out of a grey metal as a product used to keep ship goods steady in their crates at sea.  One day, he accidentally knocked down his shelf where he kept them and watched one of the things that we know as slinkys make its way step by step down the shelf instead of rolling.

2.  Playdough

Playdough (as we call it now) used to be a way to clean wallpaper.  It was made by Noah McVicker in the 1930s, when his kids started playing with it.

3.  Potato Crisps

 What we know as Walkers Crisps or potato chips were not made on purpose.  They were actually made when a baker didn't like how chips were being made.  So he decided that he would try out his own recipe.  At first, he was angry that it had backfired, but then he realised that his creation was going to make billions.  And it did.
