US president Biden is set to meet Putin, the present president of Russia. The intentions for this meeting are very low as the US goverment have explained they don't expect to meet any high expectations. They haven't even thought of mending relationships with Soviet Union as Obama tried that and it got him nowhere but because there is a new man in the White house, they'll have another go at it. The relations between the two countries have been at their worst since the cold war. He comes fresh from NATO and EU/US meeting summits to discuss how he should handle this meeting. An Anonymous bidder pays 19.8 million pounds to ride blue origin rocket into space with Jeff Bezos (owner of Amazon) and his brother Mark Bezos on his blue origin rocket. The bidder’s identity will be revealed ahead of the launch off. It will be the first time Bezos’s New Shepard capsule will have humans inside of it. The blue origin rocket will be successfully be launched after 11 tests to check it’s safety. More than 7,000 people applied for this auction from a total of 159 countries. The last 20 bidders went through to the final round on Saturday. This came after Jeff Bezos announced that he and his brother would be taking part on an eleven minute flight on the shuttle. By SN

  Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro has been fined for not wearing a mask at a biker’s rally in Sao Paulo. The rally went in and out of the city, and arrived back at Ibirapuera Park, where the leader said to the supporters of the rally that mask-wearing for vaccinated people was pointless. Most health experts disagree with this, however. Under 12% of Brazilians have had both doses of the vaccine

  After almost 20 glorious years presenting BBC Breakfast, Louise Minchin is set to leave. Minchin first hosted the show in 2001, then became the main presenter in 2012 when the show moved to MediaCity in Salford. She covered important news stories from all over the world, as well as the last three general elections, Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. She told viewers of the show that she “loved” being on the show but “it’s time I stopped setting my alarm for 3:40”. She also said she would take many happy memories away with her. She has said she will be trying to write a book on endurance sport as well. Although she is leaving the BBC, she will continue her own podcast about the mental and physical benefits of sport and exercise. Queen meets Joe Biden. This is the 12th American President that the Queen is meeting in her glorious reign of 69 years. They will meet to discuss how to better the relationship between the UK and America. The Royal Majesty herself has met Biden’s Predecessor Trump. The Queen first met a serving US president in 1951, Harry S Truman as Princess Elizabeth in 1951. She has also met every US leader during her reign except for Lyndon B Johnson.   The Nigerian government has said it will ban Twitter after the social media platform deleted a controversial tweet by the country’s president. But the time that the ban will start has not been shared with the public, with the announcement made on Twitter itself.   Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari posted a tweet on Tuesday which threatened suspected separatist militants in the southeast part of the country. Twitter deleted the post the day after, saying it was abusive.   The Nigerian Government announced the ban of the website on Friday. Twitter said it was investigating the banning of the platform in Nigeria.   The country’s information minister said the platform was banned because it was being used “for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”. Eric Carle, the author of the children’s book The Very Hungry caterpillar, had died at the age of 91. The family said he died on Sunday at his summer studio in Northampton, Massachusetts. The book, published in 1969 was welcomed by parents and kids with its fun but also educational storyline. It has sold more than 50 million times. The story - which is only 224 words long – has also been translated into 62 languages. The author’s son has said Eric died of kidney failure.  It is a loss that will make many, many people very sad.

Worlds First is a talent development that will run throughout 2021. Selected celebrities will be given the chance to attend digital workshops in July and August, where they will work with established artists and mentors to develop their work, and be given a platform to perform their own work at digital showcases. Lady Leshurr, the British rapper, singer, songwriter, Radio 1 extra DJ, and producer, has been appointed as an ambassador for Words First 2021. She will provide guidance and mentoring for the finalists throughout the production. Among others, British poet Malika Booker, author of PEPPER SEED (peepal tree press) and Words First alumni Isaiah Hull will be working with the 12 selected artists in talent masterclasses. There will be a Summer showcase performance at the Contains Strong Language Festival 2021 in Coventry, where shortlisted artists from the digital workshops will be invited to perform.
