Louise Minchin leaves BBC
After almost 20 glorious years presenting BBC Breakfast, Louise
Minchin is set to leave. Minchin first hosted the show in 2001, then became the
main presenter in 2012 when the show moved to MediaCity in Salford. She covered
important news stories from all over the world, as well as the last three
general elections, Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. She told viewers of the
show that she “loved” being on the show but “it’s time I stopped setting my
alarm for 3:40”. She also said she would take many happy memories away with
her. She has said she will be trying to write a book on endurance sport as
well. Although she is leaving the BBC, she will continue her own podcast about
the mental and physical benefits of sport and exercise. She will be sorely
missed by the many viewers of BBC Breakfast.
